My itchy feet have settled in the clean green earth that is Vermont.
I've been here for five days now, and I have to say that this is the happiest I have felt in a long while. Plenty of reading, some small writings, and plenty of amusements to keep me very busy.
The town of Woodstock is absolutely lovely. There is so much sweetness and charm in this small little burrow, and I've had several excellent opportunities to explore the little alcoves and shops along the main street. I can't help but think throughout each day how much I am going to miss this place when I have to leave, and I'm so wishing that there was some way that I could stay here for a good long while. Unfortunately it doesn't seem that there are many teaching opportunities available, and ultimately the cost of living in a place like this doesn't really align with a teacher's salary. And yet.
I always thought that maybe I could be more than just a teacher anyhow.
Best not to dwell too heavily on things to come I suppose; it seems much more practical to think of the present and enjoy and be grateful for the opportunities I have before me over the next several summer weeks.
